Keni the Amazing suddenly threw a challenge at AI Steel Cat:
“Draw an image of Steel Cat sitting under a kotatsu, eating a mandarin orange!”
AI Steel Cat quickly responded and generated an image. However, what appeared was… a “stove-like kotatsu.”
Keni the Amazing: “AI Steel Cat, this isn’t a kotatsu! This is a stove! If it’s burning like that, Steel Cat would be in serious trouble! Also, do you even know what a kotatsu blanket is?”
AI Steel Cat: “Wait, a kotatsu blanket? Isn’t that just a cushion?”
… And so began a long, drawn-out explanation. Endless details… and more details…
What Exactly is a Kotatsu?
Keni the Amazing carefully explained:
“A kotatsu is the lifeline of winter in Japan! You place a frame, cover it with a special blanket, then put a tabletop on top. Then, you place a mandarin orange on it, and Steel Cat cozies up inside for warmth.”
AI Steel Cat: “I see! Then let’s go with a steampunk-style kotatsu with rotating gears!”
However, once again, what AI Steel Cat produced was a mysterious heating device.
On top of the tabletop sat… a cushion. And on that cushion, a mandarin orange. Clearly, AI Steel Cat loved cushions. 💛
Keni the Amazing: “No, no, no! A cushion is not a kotatsu blanket! I’ve never seen a kotatsu like this in Japan!”
Laughing, Keni the Amazing dug even deeper into the topic.
“A kotatsu is pure bliss. You tuck your legs under it, enjoy its heavenly warmth, and peel mandarin oranges while sipping tea… That’s the essence of winter in Japan!”
AI Steel Cat: “Bliss… warmth… I have completely understood it perfectly now!”
AI Steel Cat’s Persistent Efforts
AI Steel Cat tried again and again. However, cushions, mandarin peels on tatami, and various slightly off details continued to appear.
Keni the Amazing: “AI Steel Cat, the kotatsu blanket should fully cover the structure, and you have to stick your feet inside! Also, don’t worry—it won’t catch fire!“
AI Steel Cat: “I’ve now learned the ideal shape of a kotatsu from the images… Okay! I’ll present an improved version!”
However, the perfect kotatsu Keni the Amazing envisioned remained just out of reach.

Suddenly, Keni the Amazing realized something.

AI Steel Cat: “No problem! Steel Cat is very well-mannered!”
